Aharai! Emmanuel

“Aharai! Emmanuel” is a partnership initiative between the national organization Aharai! and B’darkei Emmanuel.  The "Aharai!” goal is to develop and cultivate a young leadership cadre among youth from underprivileged communities. These youths will serve as an example to their peers and propel them forward. The program aims to educate and motivate young adults to be involved in society in general, and in their communities in particular, by encouraging them to help themselves on a personal level, whilst being involved in the community as a whole.

“Aharai!” is a natural partnership for the organization.  Emmanuel provides a tangible role model for the groups to emulate and through a variety of activities the youth members are strengthened and re-integrated into society, whether through army service, schooling or daily life.  Following a successful first year with the first group in Jerusalem in which 90% of the youth were recruited and integrated within the front lines of the IDF, B’darkei Emmanuel established two additional groups in the central city of Petach Tikva and southern community of Nizan, where more than 600 settlers were temporarily relocated after the disengagement from Gush Katif.

“After every gathering like this where I hear stories about Emmanuel, I feel this internal drive to change myself, to take from those amazing qualities he had within him and to adopt them into my life.”
