Lt. Col. Emmanuel Moreno was a daring fighter, officer and
admired commander of Israel’s elite General Reconnaisance Unit, but not only
that – Emmanuel was an unique individual, a strong personality who combined
noble qualities and characteristics together with great faith and strong
spirit. The life of Emmanuel was one of
continuous self-improvement and aspiration towards “perfection” in the realm of
Torah values, one who was viewed in his lifetime and after as a noble emissary
on behalf of the people of Israel.
Imparting the legacy of Emmanuel amongst the children of
Israel
The mission of the Emmanuel Moreno Community Centers,
situated today in the periphery communities of Nizan and Kfar Meyman, is to help
build the next generation of leadership via an intimate understanding of the legacy
of Emmanuel as one who held in exceptional harmony the love for the people of
Israel, the land of Israel and the Torah of Israel.
The program provides a framework for after-school studies as
a supplement to the school day, focused on traditional Jewish studies. The program also fills a salient need as an
anchor for the area, which is characterized by a lack of after-school community
options for children after the finish of the early school day around 1:00pm.
The objectives of the program are:
a. Imparting Jewish values
b. Developing leadership qualities amongst the youth
c. Teaching acts of kindness and assistance to others
d. Imparting knowledge and love of Eretz Yisrael (Land of
Israel)
During the day the children receive a hot meal, pray
together in (Mincha) afternoon services, and attend different classes according
to age groups for studies and enrichment activities according to a study
curriculum designed for each group.
Our vision
One of the objectives of the Community Center is to instill
the value of mutual support and camaraderie among peers, each arriving from a
different background.The mission before
us is to build patience and acceptance of those who may be different, and
obligates us to develop such qualities among our students as well.
We see the Emmanuel Moreno Community Centers as the
beginning of a comprehensive endeavor that will reach many children, spreading
the light of Emmanuel that is rooted in a love of the people of Israel in all
its facets.
